Military In Texas Waiver

Eligibility

All active duty, veterans, and reservists are eligible for non-resident tuition waiver per TEC 54.241. Please see below for the requirements of each.

 

  • For Veterans – please complete the Intent to Establish Residency Form and submit it with a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility for VA benefits. A student does not have to use VA benefits to receive a waiver. SBS needs proof that the student is eligible to receive benefits.
  • For Dependents of Veterans – please complete the Intent to Establish Residency Form and submit it with a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility for VA benefits. A student does not have to use VA benefits to receive a waiver. SBS needs proof that the veteran or dependent is eligible to receive benefits.
  • For Active Duty – please submit a copy of the active-duty orders.
  • For Dependents of Active Duty – please complete the Intent to Establish Residency Form and submit it with a copy of the active-duty orders. 
  • For Reservists – please submit a copy of the reserve orders.

All paperwork and documents can be submitted via email to ssb@tamu.edu, faxed to 979-845-9406, mailed to 6001 TAMU, College Station, TX 77845-6001, or submitted in person at the General Services Complex on campus (750 Agronomy Road, Suite 2801).

The Military in Texas Waiver is a waiver of non-resident tuition. It does not change a student’s residency status. The waiver will waive the non-resident tuition, and can be seen on the student bill and can be seen on the student bill as "Waiver-CS/GV/HSC."
