Regents' Scholars Program
First awarded in Fall 2004, the Regents' Scholarship is designed to assist first-generation college students in achieving their educational goals at Texas A&M University. Students who entered fall 2019 or earlier will receive up to $5,000 per year for up to four years. Students entering fall of 2020 or later will receive up to $6000 per year for up to four years.
Program Details
Initial Eligibility
To be considered for the Regents’ Scholarship, you must be:- Admitted as a freshman to Texas A&M University College Station, including the McAllen Higher Education Center, Engineering Academy at Blinn Bryan or Engineering Academy at Galveston.
- A first-generation college student (neither parent has earned a bachelor’s degree).
- From a family with a total income of less than $40,000 per year as verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for Student Financial Aid (TASFA).
- Living on campus their entire first year for students at the College Station and Galveston campus unless a special circumstance housing appeal is approved.
Continued Eligibility
To receive the Regents’ Scholarship on a continuing basis, you must:- Enroll full-time. Eligibility varies based on Enrollment Status. For details, please visit the Award Proration information page.
- Continue to possess financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for Student Financial Aid (TASFA).
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Satisfy the participation requirements of the Regents’ Scholarship Program through the Office for Student Success.
- Meet the 30/60/90 hour rule. You are required to have earned 30 hours by the end of your first academic year, 60 hours by the end of your second academic year, and 90 hours by the end of your third academic year. An academic year includes the fall, spring, and summer terms. Hours earned via transfer credit, dual credit, and AP/IB testing can be used to meet the 30/60/90 rule.
Duration
The scholarship is a four-year award, pending Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), meeting the 30/60/90 hour rule each academic year, full-time enrollment, and completing the Regents’ Scholarship Program requirements.Application
You should complete your FAFSA as soon as possible, or by February 15 at the latest to ensure it will be processed by Texas A&M in time for the February 15 priority deadline. These scholarships are offered on a first-come, first-served basis as students have completed their financial aid application, turned in all requested documentation and our office has verified eligibility.
